Contest 2020 - Krakow Music Centre

Idea

The idea behind the building was to create an open place which would be the heart of musical Krakow, a space where art, culture and nature mingle. What should the 21st century House of Music be like? - In our opinion it should be a symbiosis of music and nature. We inscribe the building into the natural environment and local landscape, allowing for the flow of views and functions between the inside and the outside.

Natural and landscape context and inspiration

On a regional scale, the study area is located in the area of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Highland, whose characteristic rocks are the main inspiration for the building's architecture (vicinity of the Bielańsko-Tyniecki Landscape Park).

Functional layout

The Krakow Music Centre is a multifunctional complex housing a concert hall, an assembly hall, multifunctional music halls, an artistic kindergarten and administration. The main core of the building is a concert hall with 1000 seats.
